FAQ

Why doesn't Whatnot show me real profit?

Whatnot shows gross sales and fees but not COGS (what you paid for the inventory). They have no way to know what you spent on cards, packs, or sneakers. Real profit = sales minus fees minus shipping minus what you paid. You have to bring the COGS number.

What's a healthy margin on a Whatnot show?

Depends on category. Sealed product (booster boxes, sneaker pairs) often runs 5-15% margins because COGS is high. Singles, breaks, and graded cards can hit 30-50% if sourced well. Funko/giveaway shows often run negative margins on the giveaways and positive on the chase items.

Should buyer-paid shipping affect my profit?

Indirectly. Buyer-paid shipping increases the buyer total, which increases the 2.9% payment processing fee Whatnot charges you. So yes, charging more shipping costs you a little more in fees. The shipping itself is paid to USPS by the buyer, so it's not your revenue.

How do giveaways affect profit?

Giveaways are seller-paid items: $0 revenue, but you cover the shipping and the COGS. Use the seller-paid shipping field for the postage. The COGS is real but doesn't show up as a sale in your CSV. Track those separately.

From planning to actuals.
